General Membership Meeting and Open House Dates SeOctober 2000 Newslettert

Curl Mesabi’s Open House has been set for October 24th-26th from 6:30PM to 9:00PM. Bring someone you may think would be interested in curling to the open house so they may give it a try. This is a great opportunity for your guest to get a feel for the game we all enjoy. Refreshments and snacks will be provided by Curl Mesabi.

Curl Mesabi’s Board of Directors has set Monday, October 23, 2000 at 6:30PM for the fall general membership meeting. The meeting will be held at the Range Recreation and Civic Center. Please attend the meeting to discover what is happening in the upcoming season.

Again Curl Mesabi will also try and install a number of the overhead cameras for the upcoming season. These should work through the televisions that are currently mounted in the upstairs viewing area. If you would like to donate towards the purchase of a camera or other associated equipment, please contact Craig Wainio at 749-5297.

Sign-up at the general membership meeting to assist with camera installation. A number of people are needed to run wiring and mount camera’s. We especially need a few people who are not afraid of heights.

2000-2001 Budget and Dues Set

Curl Mesabi’s Board of Directors reluctantly decided to institute a new dues structure for the upcoming season. In order to adequately meet our obligations as outlined in the following budget, Curl Mesabi needed to increase dues. As shown in the budget, a $4,000 loss is projected even with the increase. Total dues are expected to go from $42,000 in 1999-2000 to $58,000 this year. We all need to work hard to increase our membership, increase the amount of advertising, increase participation in our Bonspiels and hold our overall expenses down.

A committee is needed to remodel the rock storage room before the end of the curling season. All of our rocks, merchandise and other various supplies must be moved to the rock room at the end of the season. This will then free up the current room for use by the facility.

Also, volunteers are needed to work with Andrea, the new RRCC manager, on curling displays and memorabilia.

All women curlers of Curl Mesabi are asked to attend a meeting one hour prior to theOctober 2000 Newsletter October 2000 Newsletter General Membership meeting.
